One more day to go!! Yeah!! I'm so looking forward to a cup of coffee, and some chocolate biscuits.
I won't bore you with more details of what I've eaten today. Safe to say it wasn't great and I'm eager to get back to eating some fruit and fresh veg. It is surprising how much we take it for granted. Also, how much our body needs it. As I've said before all the sugar and salt (and other stuff) that goes into making some tinned food is shocking, and without the balance of fresh food with all the vitamins and minerals is isn't good for us.
So, why have I done this. This was an event called "A Week Without" suggested by Christian's Against Poverty to raise money for their amazing work in helping people struggling with debt. So many of their clients have to go without. I picked Fresh Food :-)
A story I heard recently of a family who were doing OK, husband had a good job and they were living fairly well. They had made a few rash purchases and used loans to pay for them, but nothing crazy. He was then made redundant and they assumed he would get another job quite quickly and they continued their usual/normal lifestyle - not an extravagant one! However, he didn't get another job and they started to use their 2 credit cards more and more and it suddenly became evident that they were in trouble. They made cut backs, but the debt was already there, and then the phone calls started from their lenders, polite at first and then more and more forceful. They came within days of losing their house. Then they met CAP!! CAP took all their paperwork, spoke to all their lenders and mortgage company, worked out a budget and put them on the road to being debt free - a 5 year road, but they will make it! THANK YOU CAP!!
Can I ask you so sponsor me for Christian's Against Poverty, let's see if we can get to £500 by the end of next week. THANK YOU!
A Week Without: What would you be prepared to live without? So many of CAP's clients live without things we take for granted. So I am joining their "Week Without" fundraising week and have chosen to do a Week Without Fresh Food. To make it simple, that means tinned food only. Many thanks for sponsorship and helping those trapped by debt.

Day 5 of 7
I'm looking forward to this ending. It has been a lot harder than the other event I did a few years ago - Living on a £1 a day throughout lent. It was probably a mistake to limit myself to Sainsbury's Basics, but it did encourage a few wonderful people to sponsor me. It goes to show that what we eat can affect how we feel emotionally and physically, how much energy we have and how much sleep we get.
Friday
Breakfast: Rice pudding (it was my wife's idea) and while it was OK, it was a little sweet for breakfast
Lunch: Left over beans and tuna - they actually go well together and the Sainsbury's Basic line-caught tuna isn't to bad
Supper: Finished up the chilli con carne with carrots.
If you would like to sponsor me for the work of Christian's Against Poverty, then even a £5 will help. Many thanks!!

Day 4 of 7
No headache this morning, but I have noticed that I'm not sleeping well. I feel very tired by 9-10pm and have been going to bed early. I then wake up in the middle of the night. I'm surprised by how much eating crap food has affected me - must be my age. The amount of sugar and salt in tinned food is not good, and I fell very sorry for those people who don't have much choice but to eat cheap non-fresh food.
Breakfast: Beans - they just don't taste the same without the toast :-(
Lunch: Mixed beans in a sauce + tuna. Tasted OK, but I have to say it sparked off a small headache.
Supper: Left over Chilli from last night. I wasn't looking forward to this as is was horrid. Roll on Sunday night!
Thanks again for all those who sponsored me!

Day 2 of 7
Breakfast: Baked Beans and sweetcorn (again!)
Lunch: Spaghetti and tuna, but I forgot to take the tuna to work :-(
Supper: Curry + sweet corn + tomatoes + carrots. (mixed into a stew-thing) (again!)
Thankfully I feel better today (Tue) and don't have a headache, so I'm putting yesterday's grim-day down to no caffeine. Many thanks to all the sponsors who have donated!!
If you're feeling sorry for me, then donating a fiver will make it all worth it. Right now I would give anything (more than a fiver!) for a cup of coffee and a cake, bar of chocolate, or some fruit - or probably all 3:

Day 1 of 7
Breakfast: Baked Beans and sweetcorn
Lunch: Vegetable soup
Supper: Curry + sweet corn + tomatoes + carrots. (mixed into a stew-thing)
I really need to work on Breakfast, Baked Beans and sweetcorn tasted OK, but just not for breakfast.
First day wasn't good, I felt awful and had a headache for most of the day. Not sure if it was lack of caffeine, high sugar and salt content in the food, or just the crap food - probably all 3!

The Big Idea
As the title says I am joining Christian's Against Poverty and the Week Without fundraising event. I have chosen a week without fresh food, and to make it simple, tinned food only. You can sponsor me here: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/timothynutt1
Many thanks to all the wonderful people who have already sponsored me. I committed to only purchasing Sainsbury's Basics if I could get to the £300 mark. Thanks :-) Hopefully we can get to £500 by the end of the week!
Day 1's plan
Breakfast: Baked Beans and sweetcorn
Lunch: Tuna and spaghetti hoops
Supper: Curry + sweet corn + tomatoes + carrots. (mixed into a stew-thing)
I really need to re-think breakfast - I'm guessing I will be missing the coffee and chocolate, although seeing the amount of sugar in the tinned food, I don't think there will be much of a sugar craving...
